Joining the AFL in 1997 from the SANFL , the Port Adelaide ( Power ) Football Club had to adopt a name change , from the Magpies , and add teal and silver  to their colours ,  to distinguish themselves from that other famous " Magpies " afl team .

Enjoying great success , they boast an enviable winning culture of  premierships , numbering  37 (one AFL and 36 SANFL) .

Originating  from the working class , Port area of Adelaide  , loyal fans travel interstate to watch their team play , in their distinctive football jumpers , jerseys , guernseys .

Great indigenous player Gavin Wanganeen , featured in their 2004 premiership side ,  and became the first aboriginal player to play  300 games , in 2006 .

He was also the first aboriginal to win a Brownlow medal , in season1993 , whilst playing for Essendon , prior to Power joining the AFL competition .
